North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, speaking at the Fifth Assembly of the country's mothers, said he was concerned about the declining birth rate. This is reported by the KCNA.

Kim Jong-un explained this by the "growing problem of anti-socialist behaviour" among young people and called on women to give birth to as many children as possible "for the sake of the party, the revolution and the country".

In his speech, the DPRK leader expressed gratitude to those who gave birth to many children, those who take care of orphans, as well as representatives of the Pyongyang and regional women's union.

According to the agency, those gathered "listened in tears to the address of the kind-hearted father, overflowing with love and faith."

This is not the first time the DPRK leader has drawn attention to the birth rate problem. He spoke about the same issue at the Mothers' Union conference in June 2021.

The last time this gathering was held in North Korea was in November 2012. Kim Jong-un did not participate in it, but limited himself to a joint photo at the end of the event.
