Trump Announces Executive Order to Cut Drug Prices by Up to 80%
World
Donald Trump recently announced that he would soon share “one of the most important and influential posts” of his political career. On May 12, he delivered on that promise by revealing plans to sign an executive order aimed at slashing prescription drug prices in the United States by 30 to 80 percent.
Calling it “one of the most important orders in U.S. history,” Trump said the directive will significantly reform the country’s pharmaceutical policy and ease the financial burden of healthcare for millions of Americans. The signing is scheduled for 4:00 PM Moscow time.
In his message, Trump criticized pharmaceutical companies for inflating drug prices in the U.S., often many times higher than in other countries. “America will no longer be the one footing the bill,” he wrote, vowing to end what he called decades of unfair pricing.
Trump believes the move will save trillions of dollars and restore fairness in the system. “Thank you for your support — together, we will make America great again!” he concluded.
