Large-scale Ukrainian drone attack on Moscow
World
The night of March 11 became one of the most alarming for Moscow since the start of the conflict - the capital was hit by the most massive drone attack.
According to official data, Russian air defense has shot down 91 drones over the Moscow region and another 246 in other regions. As a result of the attack, one person died, several were injured, and residential buildings were damaged. Airports temporarily suspended operations, and dozens of flights were canceled.
According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, a total of 337 Ukrainian drones were intercepted over Russian territory, most of which were targeted at Moscow and the Kursk region. City Mayor Sergey Sobyanin stated that the air defense forces successfully repelled the attack, but the debris from the shot-down drones caused serious damage.
For safety reasons, flights were suspended at six Moscow airports. The suspension of Moscow airports has led to delays and cancellations of flights from and to Uzbekistan. Passengers are advised to clarify the status of their flights and be prepared for changes in the schedule.
This attack became the largest attack on the Russian capital since the start of the conflict, demonstrating Ukraine's growing capabilities in using unmanned technology. Earlier, in May 2023, Moscow was already subjected to drone attacks, but then the scale was significantly smaller.
