What was supposed to be a dream vacation turned into forced confinement for 1,700 people in the port of Bordeaux. The death of a 90-year-old passenger and dozens of illnesses have transformed the luxury liner Ambition into a quarantine zone. As the vessel prepared for the Spanish shores, a medical drama unfolded on board, forcing French authorities to take extreme measures.

Liner Ambition Locked Down in Bordeaux Due to Norovirus
Over 1,200 tourists and 500 crew members of the liner Ambition have been locked down in the French port of Bordeaux. The strict quarantine was triggered by the death of a 90-year-old man and an outbreak of norovirus, with about 50 people exhibiting vomiting and diarrhea.

The journey began on May 6 in the Shetland Islands, but the infection started spreading after a stop in Liverpool. The peak of the illness occurred on May 11 while docked in Brest. Although the shipowner, Ambassador Cruise Line, maintains that the deceased passenger showed no signs of gastroenteritis, French authorities have prohibited disembarkation. Enhanced disinfection protocols are currently in place on the liner, and the planned trip to Spain has been disrupted. Forensic experts are working to determine the exact cause of death while the rest remain confined to their cabins.
