Malaysia Launches New Flights to Uzbekistan

"In order to further increase the flow of Muslim tourists from Malaysia and Indonesia to Uzbekistan, the 'Ikhlas' travel company, operating within the group, is ready to establish close cooperation with tour operators in your country. Additionally, the company is planning a delegation visit to Uzbekistan to initiate practical steps for launching future flights and to get acquainted with the infrastructure created for tourists," said Benjamin Ismail, the director of Malaysia's leading airline.

Uzbekistan’s Ambassador, Karomiddin Gadoyev, held a meeting with Kamarudin Meranun, the chairman and co-founder of Malaysia’s "Capital A Berhad" company, as well as Benjamin Ismail, the CEO of "Air Asia X" airline.

At the beginning of the meeting, Kamarudin Meranun announced that "Air Asia X Berhad" plans to start selling tickets for the Kuala Lumpur – Tashkent – Kuala Lumpur route from May this year and to launch regular flights four times a week starting in September.

The company chairman also expressed his intention, in collaboration with its affiliated companies and Uzbekistan’s national carrier, "Uzbekistan Airways," to transform the republic’s cities into major aviation hubs connecting Southeast Asian countries with Central Asia and the CIS.

The "Capital A Berhad" group is the largest and leading low-cost airline in Asia. Its fleet consists of 200 aircraft. The aviation holding unites six airlines: "AirAsia Malaysia," "AirAsia X," "AirAsia Thailand," "AirAsia Indonesia," "AirAsia Philippines," and "AirAsia Cambodia." "AirAsia X" specializes in long-haul flights. The holding uses Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, Jakarta, Manila, and Phnom Penh airports as hubs. Currently, the airline group's route network includes more than 160 destinations, covering major airports in Asia and Oceania.
