Unknown armed men attacked the village of Diallassagu in the Bandiagara district in the central part of the country, Anadolu news agency reported citing local media.
According to preliminary data, the armed attack killed 20 people and injured 22 others.
The region, home to Burkina Faso, Niger and Mali, known as the "three-country border" in West Africa, has seen an increase in attacks by terrorist groups linked to al-Qaeda and Daesh in recent years.
In Mali, terrorist organisations have not stopped their attacks since 2013.
