“Holding such meetings is the right of these states. We will closely monitor all this,” Peskov said.
Russia followed the meeting of US President Joe Biden with the heads of state of Central Asia within the framework of the 78th session of the UN General Assembly, but the main thing for Moscow is to continue the dialogue with the countries of the region. This was stated by the press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov, commenting on the results of the meeting, TASS reports.
“Asian countries definitely have their own relations with the United States. Of course, holding such meetings is the right of these states. We are closely monitoring all this. For us, the main thing is not this, the main thing is to continue our dialogue,” said the Kremlin representative.
“You know that there is a kind of dialogue between Russia and the Central Asian Five, we have our own integration processes, we focus on them, this is incredibly important for us.
The C5+1 format (Central Asian countries and the United States) was created in 2015 and was held at the level of foreign ministers and experts. This time the meeting was held for the first time in New York at the level of heads of state within the framework of the 78th session of the UN General Assembly. It was attended by the Presidents of the United States Joe Biden, Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov, Tajikistan Imamali Rahman, Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
