While presenting the award, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev highlighted Berdimuhamedov’s significant contribution to strengthening the traditional friendship, good neighborliness, and strategic partnership between the two brotherly nations.

“All the major achievements, large-scale reforms, and growing international standing of brotherly Turkmenistan are closely linked to your name,” the President of Uzbekistan emphasized.

It was noted that Turkmenistan ensures sustainable economic growth and steadily improves the welfare of its population. The President also underlined the international initiatives put forward by Berdimuhamedov in promoting global security and sustainable development.

In this regard, it was emphasized that Berdimuhamedov’s proposal to declare 2025 as the “Year of Peace and Trust” has received broad international support.

It was noted that thanks to the personal efforts of the Turkmen leader, Uzbekistan-Turkmenistan relations have now reached a high level and serve as a true example of bilateral cooperation.

“With your personal support, in 2017, a solid foundation for our countries’ strategic partnership was laid,” President Mirziyoyev stated.

Active interaction between the parliaments, governments, regions, entrepreneurs, public organizations, intellectuals, and youth of both countries was noted with satisfaction. In recent years, the trade turnover has increased several times, surpassing one billion dollars.

Cultural and humanitarian cooperation also received high praise. Last year, a collection of Makhtumkuli’s works in Uzbek was presented in Ashgabat and Tashkent, and the premiere of a joint Uzbek-Turkmen feature film was held at the Ashgabat International Film Festival.

The presentation of Uzbekistan’s highest award to Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov was described as an expression of the sincere respect and esteem of the multiethnic Uzbek people for the distinguished statesman, national leader, and architect of modern Turkmenistan.
