This is stated in the declaration of the North Atlantic Alliance summit held in Washington from 9 to 11 July.

At the meeting, a plan was also agreed to guarantee aid to Ukraine even if Donald Trump wins the US presidential election in November 2024, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said.

Under the plan, arms deliveries to Ukraine as well as the training of Ukrainian soldiers in Europe will henceforth be coordinated through NATO headquarters in the German city of Wiesbaden. The aim of the new structure is to make Ukraine's security support a permanent fixture. Until now, the US has been responsible for coordinating assistance to Ukraine.

Another task of the Wiesbaden headquarters will be to assist Ukraine in its further rapprochement with the North Atlantic Alliance. A joint statement by the summit participants emphasised that Ukraine was on an irreversible path towards full Euro-Atlantic integration, including NATO membership.
