Nearly 1,000 Young Eco-Activists Gather for International Congress in Shahrisabz

The Fifth International Environmental Congress “Youth — Builders of the Future” has opened in Shahrisabz District of Kashkadarya Region. Nearly 1,000 young eco-activists from Uzbekistan and eight foreign countries are taking part in the event.
Participants include young representatives from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Türkiye, Russia and Belarus, as well as representatives of all regions of Uzbekistan.
At the opening ceremony, Zarina Abdullayeva, head of a department at the National Committee for Ecology and Climate Change, delivered a message from Aziz Abduhakimov, Adviser to the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Ecology and Chairman of the National Committee for Ecology and Climate Change. The message highlighted the growing importance of environmental issues and the role of young people in addressing them.
Ziyoda Aminova, Deputy Hokim of Kashkadarya Region, also emphasized the importance of youth initiatives in finding solutions to environmental challenges.
The congress programme includes the international competitions “Best Environmental Project”, “Best Council of the Young Ecologists Movement”, “Eco-Zakovat” and “Fun and Resourceful”. Presentations, exhibitions, meetings, plogging activities, environmental campaigns and various projects are also scheduled.
During the opening ceremony, certificates of trust were presented to the heads of the Young Ecologists Movement councils in the regions.
The congress is aimed at increasing youth participation in environmental protection, supporting environmental initiatives and projects, and developing proposals to address environmental challenges.
