Netanyahu: the phase of intense fighting with Hamas in Rafah will soon end
"The intense phase of the fighting against Hamas is about to end," Mr. Netanyahu said on Channel 14.

The Prime Minister also mentioned that the intense phase of fighting in the Gaza Strip is expected to conclude soon. This will allow the redeployment of some forces to the north for defensive purposes and to facilitate the return of evacuees. Mr. Netanyahu promised that any settlement agreement in the north would be on Israel's terms.

The head of the Israeli government reiterated his readiness for a partial deal with Hamas, but after that, he intends to resume military actions. According to Mr. Netanyahu, only the Israeli army can eradicate terrorism in the Gaza Strip, after which a civil administration involving local Palestinians needs to be established in the enclave. Military control will remain with Israel, the Gaza Strip will be demilitarized, and a "government under the administration of moderate countries in the region" should be created in the enclave, according to Mr. Netanyahu.

The war between Israel and Hamas began with the Palestinian movement's attack on Israeli territory on October 7, 2023. 1,200 Israelis were killed, 5,400 were injured, and more than 200 Israelis and foreigners were taken hostage. Israel is conducting a retaliatory military operation, which has resulted in the deaths of more than 37,000 Palestinians, with about 86,000 injured. Most of the killed are women and children.
