New Air Deal: More Flights, More Destinations
Uzbekistan and Indonesia have signed a new aviation agreement removing restrictions on airlines and destinations, expanding flight frequency to 56 per week, and boosting both pilgrimage and tourism flows between the two countries.
As part of Uzbekistan’s “2030 Strategy” aiming to quadruple air traffic volume, a delegation from the Ministry of Transport visited Jakarta and held talks with Indonesian aviation authorities. The meeting resulted in the signing of a landmark agreement.

Key points of the agreement include:
-Removal of limits on the number of airlines and destinations;
- Authorization of 28 weekly flights per country (total of 56);
- No capacity limits on passenger or cargo aircraft;
- Uzbek airlines will be allowed to fly to major Indonesian cities such as Jakarta, Denpasar (Bali), Surabaya, Medan, and more;
- Indonesian carriers will be granted access to all of Uzbekistan’s international airports;
- Some flights will operate under Code Share agreements;
- Both sides will enjoy 3rd, 4th, and 5th freedom rights for cargo flights.
The agreement also promotes joint programs like “Umrah Plus” and supports religious tourism. These developments are expected to significantly increase passenger and cargo traffic, stimulate tourism, and deepen economic ties.
Currently, Uzbekistan’s Qanot Sharq airline operates seasonal charter flights between Tashkent and Denpasar in cooperation with Asialux Travel.
