Order as a sign of trust: Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan are strengthening ties
President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s working visit to Avaza, Turkmenistan, for the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries, once again affirmed the strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan. During the visit, he was awarded Turkmenistan’s Order "For Contribution to the Development of Cooperation".
At the sidelines of the international conference in Avaza, President Mirziyoyev received one of Turkmenistan’s highest honors — the Order "For Contribution to the Development of Cooperation". This award reflects recognition of Uzbekistan’s growing role in fostering regional cooperation.
Notably, Turkmenistan was the first country President Mirziyoyev visited on a state visit in 2017. Since then, ties between the two nations have significantly deepened, thanks to the personal involvement of National Leader Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and current President Serdar Berdimuhamedov.
In recent years, President Mirziyoyev has received numerous prestigious awards from neighboring countries and global organizations — a testament to his active, pragmatic foreign policy built on trust and cooperation. Among them are the "Altyn Kyran" and "Dostuk" orders of Kazakhstan, the "Danaker" of Kyrgyzstan, the "Zarrintoch" of Tajikistan, Alexander Nevsky of Russia, the Legion of Honor of France, the Order of the Republic of Turkey, the Supreme Order of the Turkic World, the Honorary Badge of the CIS, the Honorary Badge of the Heads of State of Central Asia, and many others.
A symbolic moment marked the end of the visit: Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov personally saw President Mirziyoyev off at the airport, foregoing formal protocol — a gesture reflecting the special bond and deep mutual respect between the two countries.
