The new Consul General of Uzbekistan in New York, Jamil Sharapov, has taken up his duties. This is reported by Dunyo news agency.

Until today, Jamil Sharapov worked as deputy director of the Consular and Legal Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The 42-year-old diplomat graduated from the Tashkent State Institute of Oriental Studies (now Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies). Prior to his appointment in New York, he worked in various positions at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Institute for Strategic and Interregional Studies under the President of Uzbekistan.

Jamil Sharapov was appointed to replace Kamol Ikramov, who headed the Consulate General in New York in 2018-2023.
