New negotiations between Russia and Ukraine have begun
The official opening of the talks took place on May 16. Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan addressed the parties with a welcoming speech, emphasizing that "only Moscow and Kyiv can decide whether to continue the destructive conflict or choose the path of peace."

Before the meeting began, the head of the Ukrainian delegation, Rustem Umerov, confirmed Kyiv's previous position: the key condition is a truce.

One of the topics of the negotiations, according to media reports, could be a possible personal meeting between Vladimir Putin and Volodymyr Zelenskyy, which Ukraine's Western partners had previously spoken about.

US President Donald Trump also confirmed his intention to meet with Vladimir Putin, stating that this will happen "as quickly as possible."
