Nursultan Nazarbayev's younger brother has died

In 2015, Bolat Nazarbayev was diagnosed with a malignant tumour (kidney carcinoma). Then a transplant was performed. The disease was complicated by progressive severe diabetes. In 2021, doctors made another diagnosis of laryngeal cancer. On 29 July 2021, the younger brother of the first president of Kazakhstan underwent a laryngeal surgery in Germany, after which there were many complications. In September, septicaemia and thrombosis developed and his condition worsened. He fell into a coma and experienced clinical death.

Bolat Nazarbayev, the brother of former Kazakh president Bolat Nazarbayev, has died, the first president's spokesman Aidos Ukibay said.

"At the age of 70 years after a long illness died Bolat Abishevich Nazarbayev, younger brother of the first President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev," he wrote on his page in the social network X.

According to preliminary information, Bolat Nazarbayev was hospitalised in the intensive care unit due to a heart attack. The medical measures taken did not help.

According to the hospital where Bolat Nazarbayev was lying, he died on 13 November at 09:51.

Bolat Nazarbayev was engaged in business in the 1990s. He was the founder of the public charity fund "Salikaly Urpak". Other businessmen repeatedly accused him of extortion, but no official charges were brought against him. However, the former president's brother lost several properties, including land in various regions and markets.
