Shipping through the Strait of Hormuz — a route handling over 20% of global oil flows — has been severely disrupted.

Saudi Arabia has already boosted production by about 500,000 barrels per day in anticipation of further escalation. Additional capacity is largely limited to United Arab Emirates.

Brent crude prices recently climbed to $73 per barrel and fluctuated near $80 amid fears of supply disruptions.

Analysts stress that market stability will depend more on restored shipping in the Gulf than on the relatively modest output increase.
