Oxford University to Teach Uzbek and Old Uzbek Languages

During her visit to the United Kingdom, Saida Mirziyoyeva proudly announced that the Faculty of Asian and Middle Eastern Studies at Oxford University will now offer courses in Uzbek and Old Uzbek languages.
She emphasized that this step marks an important milestone in promoting Uzbekistan’s cultural heritage and strengthening academic cooperation between Uzbekistan and leading global institutions.
Mirziyoyeva also expressed her gratitude to the university for the award presented to her, which she regarded as a recognition of Uzbekistan’s progress under the leadership of the President in advancing women’s rights and opportunities.
As part of her visit, she toured the Bodleian Library, where she viewed rare manuscripts and books, including Mirzo Ulugbek’s “Zij-i Gurgani”, Alisher Navoi’s “Khamsa”, Husayn Bayqaro’s “Diwan-i Husayni”, and miniatures from the Mughal era.
Mirziyoyeva noted that such initiatives enhance global scholarly interest in Uzbekistan’s language, history, and culture, highlighting the country’s growing role in the academic world.
