In Uzbekistan, the amount of venture capital deals in 2023 doubled in 2022 and totalled more than $6 million. This is evidenced by the results of Rise Research from 14 March 2024.

According to the data received, the venture capital market in Central Asia and the Caucasus is experiencing dynamic growth. The total value of venture capital deals in the region for 2023 exceeded $110 million.

"Our research shows that venture capital funding in the Central Asia and Caucasus region has increased 5.5 times over the past five years, with deals exceeding $110 million in 2023. However, the ecosystem remains small, indicating significant potential for additional investment. One of the barriers to development is the lack of reliable data in the region. Our goal at RISE Research is to fill this gap by providing investors and the government with quality and reliable data that promotes sustainable growth," emphasised Ainur Zhanturina, founder of RISE Research.

In Uzbekistan, the amount of venture deals in 2023 was twice as high as in 2022 and totalled more than $6 million. The total number of deals increased 1.42 times (34 deals).

In terms of sectors, the maximum interest from venture capitalists in Uzbekistan was attracted by FinTech startups. This area is the leader in terms of investment volume ($2750,000) and number of deals (12). In addition, LogTech projects ($1775,000) and Business Management ($975,000) are among the leaders in terms of investment volume.

When analysing venture capital investment deals in Uzbekistan by investor type, international investors accounted for 60% of all investments in 2023. At the same time, investments from government organisations dominate among local investors. The average size of transactions of venture capital funds in 2023 was $204 thousand.
