Payments for substandard cosmetology services will be reimbursed by the government
Uzbekistan
This year, the Competition Development and Consumer Rights Protection Committee has received more than 320 complaints and applications. These complaints indicate that many consumers have suffered from substandard cosmetology services, including skin damage, tissue deformities, swelling, cracks, and rashes.
For example, a citizen, Sh. R., who used the services of a laser studio in Tashkent, reported that unknown rashes appeared on his body, and his health was seriously harmed.
During the investigation, it was determined that the rights of citizen Sh. R. were violated, and the damage was compensated. The Competition Committee submitted the case to the Prosecutor General's Office of the Republic of Uzbekistan for a legal evaluation.
Article 20 of the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On Protection of Consumer Rights" establishes that "if materials, equipment, tools, or other means are used that cannot ensure the safety of the consumer’s life, health, or property, the damage caused to the consumer must be compensated by the seller (manufacturer, executor), regardless of whether they entered into a contract with the consumer or not, and any consumer has the right to demand compensation for damages caused by defects in goods (work, services)."
