Peskov accuses NATO of provoking a "senseless war" in Ukraine

Western countries, speaking out about the possibility of Ukraine striking Russia with their weapons, provoke a new level of tension, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said, as reported by RBC.
"The member countries of the North Atlantic Alliance - the United States in particular, other European capitals - have in recent days and weeks embarked on a new round of escalation. They are doing this deliberately. We hear a lot of bellicose statements. ... They are encouraging Ukraine in every possible way to continue this senseless war. They themselves intend to continue the war with us, in both direct and indirect ways," he said.
Peskov added that such actions will have consequences and will harm the interests of "those countries that have taken the path of escalation."
In recent weeks, Europe and the USA have been discussing whether to allow Ukraine to strike Russian territory using weapons supplied by the West. On May 20, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that partners have not given their consent to this and that Kyiv is not violating the prohibition, but is trying to convince allies to lift it.
