President arrives in Kashkadarya region
Uzbekistan
President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited Kashkadarya region on 24 October to get acquainted with regional development. This was reported by the press service of the President.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev first got acquainted with the activity of the sewing enterprise of Sultan tex group cluster. This enterprise was put into operation last year at a total cost of 8 million 200 thousand dollars. Thanks to modern technologies and equipment, the capacity of production of 5 million units of garment and knitwear products per year has been created. It is noteworthy that the cluster started exporting according to the principle of "new products — new country". Today, quality goods are fully exported to countries like USA, Canada, Poland, Singapore and Russia. Income and labour productivity is correspondingly high. About 3,000 people work in the entire cluster chain from cotton cultivation to the production of finished products.
The President familiarised himself with the work process at the enterprise. An opinion was expressed about the importance of such projects for the region's economy and employment. Officials were shown that opportunities in this area are not fully utilised.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev said: "Creating decent living conditions for the population, especially rural residents, should be the basis of our reforms".
The programme "20,000 entrepreneurs - 500,000 qualified specialists" is also being implemented at Sulton Styles. A practical monocentre has been set up and textile training is being provided to the unemployed population. This is a two-stage process: first, women are trained in the use of machinery and equipment at the enterprise, as well as in labour safety rules. At the next stage, they are attached to mentors and acquire practical knowledge and skills directly at their workplaces. Here, the head of state was presented with tourism development projects in Shakhrisabz, Kitab and Kamashin districts. Instructions were given on further development of infrastructure in the villages, their inclusion in tourist routes, and expansion of income sources for residents.
