President of Uzbekistan considers utilisation of Namangan region's potential

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has held a meeting on utilisation of Namangan region's potential. This was reported by the press service of the President of Uzbekistan.
At the beginning of his speech, the head of state noted that Namangan is one of the most blessed, prosperous and fertile regions of Uzbekistan, a land of hardworking and generous, proud people, the most advanced in entrepreneurship.
At the same time, responsible complexes and managers of the region were criticised for incomplete use of the available potential in Namangan.
It is noted that 86 per cent of the region's exports are textile and horticultural products. In Mingbulok and Kosonsoy the income per hectare is 2 times less than the regional indicator. Of the 16,000 hectares allocated to the population, 3,500 hectares remain unutilised. The level of industrialisation is low in Pop, Chortok, Norin and Yangikurgan.
Based on the experience of Saikhunabad, 4,000 flats will be allocated in the neigbourhoods and measures will be taken to increase their income. At the next stage, another 4 thousand will receive financial, technical, counselling and other practical assistance.
Thus, 35 thousand households will be assisted in growing flowers, greenhouses, fishing, beekeeping, cattle breeding, viticulture, strawberries and potatoes. A sufficient amount of credit is planned for this purpose.
For information: over the last 7 years, the region's economy has doubled, exports have tripled and per capita income has reached 15.5 million sums. Thanks to investments of 65 trillion sums, 600 thousand jobs have been created.
