On August 28, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received Paolo Zampolli, Special Envoy of the US President for Global Partnerships, who arrived in Tashkent on a working visit.
The American envoy conveyed sincere greetings and congratulations from President Donald Trump on the occasion of Uzbekistan’s Independence Day.
The meeting focused on the further expansion of the Uzbekistan–US strategic partnership. Both sides noted the ongoing constructive political dialogue and active inter-parliamentary exchanges. In July, the US Congress hosted Uzbekistan Day, and this autumn the first session of the Expanded Strategic Partnership Dialogue is scheduled to take place.
The two countries maintain close cooperation in security, counter-terrorism, combating extremism, and addressing illegal migration.
Economic ties are also strengthening: in 2024, bilateral trade grew by 15%, while the portfolio of joint projects exceeded $11 billion. More than 100 leading American companies participated in the Tashkent Investment Forum in June this year.
The discussion highlighted significant potential for cooperation in mineral resources, aviation, electrical engineering, agriculture, digital technologies, finance, innovation, and education.
The sides also underlined the importance of regional engagement within the “C5+1” framework and reviewed the schedule of upcoming contacts and joint events.
