At the IV Kazakhstan-Uzbekistan Interregional Forum held in Samarkand, the Prime Ministers of Kazakhstan, Olzhas Bektanov, and Uzbekistan, Abdulla Aripov, engaged in discussions focused on enhancing bilateral trade and economic cooperation.
During the talks, the progress on agreements set by the two countries' presidents to increase mutual trade turnover was reviewed. Additionally, discussions covered industrial cooperation, water and energy collaboration, transit, and the gas sector.
Uzbekistan remains Kazakhstan's key trade partner in Central Asia. As of the first eight months of this year, the bilateral trade volume reached $2.5 billion. Olzhas Bektanov emphasized the need to strengthen efforts to expand trade relations and create favorable conditions for mutual investments.
The forum also focused on industrial cooperation, with 74 joint projects totaling $3.4 billion planned, which are expected to create 14,600 new jobs.
Transport and logistics were also on the agenda, with over 50% of Uzbekistan’s trade passing through Kazakhstan. This opens up new opportunities for deepening regional ties and further economic cooperation.
