Putin may visit North Korea

North Korea's state news agency has drawn attention to a possible visit by Russian President Vladimir Putin. This follows Pyongyang's foreign minister's visit to Moscow and the DPRK leader's visit to Russia last year.

Putin may visit North Korea
Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed his willingness to visit Pyongyang during a meeting with North Korean Foreign Minister Choe Son Hui in Russia earlier last week. This was reported by the state press of North Korea.

It is noted that Putin thanked North Korean leader Kim Jong Un for the proposal.

The date of the possible visit has not yet been set, but KCNA, citing Pyongyang's Foreign Ministry, reported that it will take place "in the near future."

It would be the first visit by a Russian leader to North Korea in more than two decades. Putin last visited Pyongyang in July 2000 to meet with Kim Jong Il, Kim Jong Un's father.
