Russia is grateful to the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, for the country's neutral and balanced policy regarding the Ukrainian crisis. President Vladimir Putin stated this during a TASS-organized meeting with heads of major global news agencies.
"We are grateful to President Mirziyoyev for the fact that Uzbekistan's policy here (regarding Ukraine) is clearly neutral and very balanced," he said.
Putin noted that the Ukrainian issue was also discussed during his visit to Uzbekistan. "President Mirziyoyev, of course, actively advocates for a peaceful resolution of the Ukrainian crisis and has repeatedly expressed Uzbekistan's concern about what is happening in Ukraine," emphasized the Russian leader.
It is worth noting that, at the invitation of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of the Republic of Uzbekistan, President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin arrived in Uzbekistan for a state visit on May 26. On May 27, the first meeting of the Council of Regions of Uzbekistan and Russia took place in Tashkent.
