Qatar’s Foreign Ministry stressed the need to protect diplomatic missions and called for resolving the Ukraine–Russia conflict through dialogue and peaceful means.

Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said the damage resulted from a Russian strike on Kyiv, publishing photos from inside the affected diplomatic building.

Russia’s Foreign Ministry rejected the accusations, stating that Russian forces do not target diplomatic facilities and had no designated targets near the Qatari embassy. Moscow suggested the damage could have been caused by malfunctioning Ukrainian air defense systems.

On the night of January 8–9, Kyiv came under a large-scale attack involving drones and missiles. Four people were killed and more than 20 injured. Critical infrastructure was damaged, leaving parts of the city without electricity, heating, and water.
