Russia and Ukraine to Hold Talks in Ankara on April 15–16

Officials from Russia and Ukraine are expected to hold negotiations on Black Sea security issues on April 15–16. The meeting will take place in Turkey’s capital, Ankara, according to CNN Türk.

It remains unclear who will participate in the meeting and whether it will be held directly or through intermediaries. Neither Moscow nor Kyiv has officially confirmed the attendance of their representatives. Since the beginning of the year, the two sides have been conducting negotiations through mediators.

Meanwhile, Turkey’s Ministry of National Defense announced that military representatives from foreign countries will gather in Ankara on April 15–16 to discuss security issues in the Black Sea. However, the list of participating countries has not been disclosed.

“In the context of a potential ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine, a meeting focused on Black Sea security will be held at the Turkish Naval Forces Command Headquarters. Military representatives from foreign countries will participate, and various aspects of naval planning for maintaining peace in the Black Sea will be discussed,” the ministry’s press service reported.
