Russia Appoints New Ambassador to Uzbekistan

Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a decree appointing Aleksei Yerkhov as the new Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to Uzbekistan.

Prior to this appointment, Yerkhov headed Russia’s diplomatic mission in Turkey.

He replaces Oleg Malginov, who had served as ambassador to Uzbekistan since 2021. Before his posting in Tashkent, Malginov led the Department for Relations with Compatriots Abroad at the Russian Foreign Ministry.
