Russia Declares German Organization DGAP "Undesirable"
World
The Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation has declared the German Council on Foreign Relations (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Auswärtige Politik, DGAP) an "undesirable organization." This was reported by the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office on March 20.
According to Russian authorities, one of DGAP's main objectives is to discredit the country's domestic and foreign policy. "The organization's experts actively advise the German government, federal ministries, and agencies working in the field of international relations," the prosecutor's office stated.
Russian law enforcement agencies claim that since Russia's military intervention in Ukraine, DGAP has:
Called for increased sanctions pressure on Russia,
Supported military and financial aid to Ukraine,
Urged European countries to "consistently pursue pro-European political changes,"
Tried to destabilize Russia's internal politics,
Spread false information about the Russian Armed Forces,
Cooperated with other organizations designated as "undesirable."
