US imposes sanctions on 42 Chinese companies for supplying microchips to Russia
The U.S. Department of Commerce has put 42 Chinese companies on the export control list for supporting the Russian military-industrial complex. This is reported by Reuters with reference to the U.S. Federal Register.

The restrictions apply to Russia's supply of American-made microchips used in the guidance systems of missiles and drones used to attack civilian targets in Ukraine.

The export control list also includes companies from Finland, Germany, India, Turkey, Turkey, the UAE and the United Kingdom.

"If you supply the Russian defense sector with American-made technology, we will know about it and we will take action," U.S. Deputy Commerce Secretary Matthew Axelrod said.
According to Reuters, inclusion on the export control list means that suppliers must now provide "hard to obtain licenses" before shipping goods to listed facilities.
