Uzbekistan's new Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to India Sardor Rustambayev arrived in New Delhi on 25 January. This was reported by the Dunyo news agency.

The 45-year-old diplomat graduated from the University of Birmingham (UK), Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies, School of Oriental and African Studies at the University of London (UK), Academy of State and Social Construction under the President of Uzbekistan. He holds a degree of Candidate of Political Sciences.

He has been working in the Foreign Ministry system since 2000. He has held various positions in the central office, from attaché to head of department. He worked at the Embassy of Uzbekistan in the UK and the Secretariat of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation. In 2018-2023, he headed the Embassy of Uzbekistan in France.

Sardor Rustambayev succeeded Dilshod Akhatov, who headed the diplomatic mission in New Delhi in 2020-2023 and was appointed Uzbekistan's ambassador to Germany in September 2023.
