Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Emmanuel Macron plant a tree
Uzbekistan
The Presidents of Uzbekistan and France after historic talks familiarised themselves with an exhibition dedicated to the cultural heritage of Uzbekistan.
After productive talks in Samarkand, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President of France Emmanuel Macron found themselves in the marvellous world of Uzbekistan's cultural heritage.
The exhibition presents exhibits from seven museums of Uzbekistan, creating an exposition reminiscent of a chronological excursion into the country's history. This virtual guide through time emphasises the richness and diversity of cultures that have left their mark on Uzbekistan.
The exhibition is divided into three parts. The first section is devoted to the ancient states, whose prosperity was accompanied by extensive trade and cultural exchange along the Silk Road.
The second part of the exposition introduces visitors to the era of caravans and roads that covered the ancient world. Here one can learn about Uzbekistan's role in medieval trade and cultural exchange.
The third section deals with the period of the spread of Islam and the development of culture and science in Central Asia during the Renaissance and Temurid eras.
Familiarity with Uzbekistan's rich cultural heritage has aroused a desire to deepen friendship and co-operation between Uzbekistan and France. As a sign of this friendship, the presidents participated in a tree planting ceremony in the park of the Samarkand Congress Centre, a symbol of closer ties between the peoples of the two countries.
