President Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting on 6 March to fully utilise the potential of districts and cities of Tashkent Region.
In the region, unutilised reserves and passivity of district leaders were discovered, which leads to unacceptable lagging behind other regions in economic development. The meeting discussed opportunities and identified "points of growth" for each district.
For example, in Parkent district, there are plans to repair roads, organise minibus traffic and allocate land for entrepreneurship. A small industrial zone has been proposed in the Yangiyul district, shopping and entertainment complexes are being considered in the Chinaz district, and industrial enterprises are planned in the Akkurgan district, as many women come to Tashkent and the districts to work in textile factories.
Measures have been taken to improve the economy of the districts, such as the creation of industrial zones and the implementation of projects involving investment. It is also planned to relocate industrial enterprises from the capital, which contributes to the development of the region.
Measures to increase the flow of local and foreign tourists to 5 million and bring exports in tourism to at least $300 million this year were also discussed.
Special attention will be paid to the training of women and youth to ensure their employment.
