Shavkat Mirziyoyev invited Ilham Aliyev to Uzbekistan

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held talks with President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev on 24 November during his working visit to Baku. The Azerbaijani leader expressed sincere gratitude to the President of Uzbekistan for supporting the first summit of the UN Special Programme for the Economies of Central Asia (SPECA) and personally participating in it.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev, in turn, congratulated the President of Azerbaijan on his successful chairmanship in SPECA. The sides discussed issues of further strengthening Uzbek-Azerbaijani relations of friendship and strategic partnership, including the implementation of agreements at the highest level.
The trade turnover between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan has increased by 34 per cent since the beginning of the year. Cooperation projects are being implemented in the automotive, electrical, textile, energy, agriculture and silk-growing sectors. Perspective projects in transport and logistics are being prepared.
The heads of state also exchanged views on new areas of mutually beneficial co-operation. The sides discussed promotion of promising projects in the chemical, energy, jewellery industries, machine building, construction industry and other areas. The sides stressed the importance of further expansion of cultural and humanitarian exchange.
At the end of the meeting, Shavkat Mirziyoyev invited the President of Azerbaijan to pay an official visit to Uzbekistan at a time convenient for him.
