Qatar gifts Trump a $400 million airliner

Donald Trump's administration is considering accepting a luxury Boeing 747-8 worth $400 million as a gift from Qatar. The plane is planned to be used as a temporary replacement for Air Force One, but the Democrats are already accusing it of violating the Constitution.

The Qatari royal family is proposing to transfer a practically new Boeing 747-8 aircraft, which, after re-equipment, will be able to perform the functions of the presidential aircraft. After the presidential term ends, the liner will be transferred to Trump's library. Meanwhile, the US Air Force continues to wait for two new Boeing 747-8s, the delivery of which has been postponed until 2027.

The Democrats strongly condemned this gesture. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer called it "foreign interference" and recalled the constitutional prohibition on such gifts without congressional approval.

Trump, in turn, responded to criticism in his own style. "The Ministry of Defense receives a FREE plane to replace the 40-year-old Air Force One, and the corrupt Democrats want us to pay hundreds of millions for it," he wrote in Truth Social.

The situation is complicated by Trump's planned visit to Qatar this week. Although the plane issue will not be officially discussed, CREW's former corruption officer, Jordan Libovitz, warned of a dangerous precedent when foreign countries can buy a location with expensive gifts. And the lawyers of the White House insist on the legality of the deal.
