Sherzod Khodjaev Appointed Uzbekistan's Minister of Energy

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has relieved Jurabek Mirzamakhmudov of his duties as Uzbekistan's Minister of Energy and appointed Sherzod Khikmatullaevich Khodjaev as his successor. The appointment was made by presidential decree and approved by the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis.
Before assuming the ministerial post, Khodjaev served as Director of the Agency for the Development and Regulation of the Energy Market of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
Mirzamakhmudov had led the Ministry of Energy since September 2022. Earlier in his career, he headed the Uzatom Agency and Uzkimyosanoat, and served as First Deputy Minister of Energy and Director General of Uzatom.
During his tenure, Uzbekistan advanced several major energy initiatives, including expanding electricity generation capacity, developing large-scale solar and wind power projects, implementing electricity and natural gas tariff reforms, launching construction of the country's first nuclear power plant in cooperation with Russia's state nuclear corporation Rosatom, and beginning natural gas imports from Russia.
