Shomurodov extends contract with Roma

Uzbekistan national team captain Eldor Shomurodov extended his contract with Italy's "Roma" until the summer of 2027 - the club reduced his salary, but expressed confidence in the striker who is once again proving his worth on the field.
Uzbekistan national team striker Eldor Shomurodov will continue playing for Roma: the club and the player have reached an agreement to extend the contract until the end of the 2026/27 season. The new agreement provides for salary reduction from 1.3 to 1 million euros per year, which will allow Roma to reduce their salary fund and ease their financial burden.
Over the past few weeks, Shomurodov has become one of the key players in the team, bringing the decisive points. Despite having been loaned out several times in previous seasons (to Spezia and Cagliari), Roma's coaching staff are again relying on the Uzbek forward.
As a reminder, Eldor moved to Italy in October 2020 from Russia's Rostov, first to Genoa, and then, after a successful debut, ended up at Roma. According to the Transfermarkt portal, his transfer cost the capital club €19.6 million.
To date, Shomurodov has made 122 appearances in Serie A, scoring 18 goals and providing 11 assists.
The contract extension confirms that the Uzbek forward continues to be an important figure not only for the national team but also in the European arena.
