Earlier, it also became known that the USA had rejected the Russian proposal for a ceasefire in Ukraine.

The State Department said that they adhere to the principle of "nothing about Ukraine without Ukraine" and do not support forcing Ukraine to concede territory. They also specified that although Russia has expressed interest in ending the conflict, there is no indication that the Russian authorities are ready to start negotiations that involve giving up their initial demands.

According to Reuters sources, in 2023, President Putin conveyed a message to the US through mediators that he was ready to discuss a ceasefire in Ukraine. However, Russia was not ready to give up the territories it controlled. Negotiations with the US side, according to one of the agency's interlocutors, did not take place.
