Air pollution in the capital has reached a "very dangerous" level. The concentration of carbon dioxide emissions from industry and motor vehicles has increased significantly.

Tashkent ranked 8th among the world's largest cities in terms of air pollution. This is stated in the rating published on the IQAir portal.

Erkin Abdulakhatov, a specialist at UzHydromet, said that as of 9:00 today, November 17, the amount of fine particles PM2.5 increased 23.8 times compared to the World Health Organisation's recommendations.

Moreover, the concentration of carbon dioxide emissions from industry and motor vehicles has increased significantly in the air. However, it has a level below the permissible norms. The IQAir portal rated Tashkent's air as "harmful".

The city of Delhi ranks 1st and Karachi, Pakistan ranks 2nd. The Indian city of Kolkata was among the top three.
