A massive explosion at a fuel terminal in Panama has ended in tragedy. In the La Boca district of the capital, in close proximity to the iconic Bridge of the Americas, fuel tanks detonated, leading to a fatal incident. The blast claimed the life of a company employee and put all of the city's emergency services on high alert.

The incident occurred around 4:12 PM local time at the fuel park facilities of Panama Oil Terminals S.A. According to preliminary reports from the fire department, the deceased worker became trapped in the fire zone at the moment the blaze started and the subsequent tank explosion followed. Several others, including terminal staff and first responders, sustained various injuries; however, their lives are currently not in danger.

The Panama Prosecutor's Office has already initiated a large-scale investigation. The case is being handled by the capital's homicide and femicide unit. Specialists have begun technical inspections of the site and are interviewing witnesses to determine whether the explosion resulted from a technical failure or professional negligence.
