The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) allocated grant funds in the amount of 350 thousand dollars for the development of the initial technical and economic document of the project.

With these funds, the Austrian company ILF Consulting Engineers Austria GmbH developed the initial technical and economic basis of the project. The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development allocated funds in the amount of 1.5 million euros for the development of this document. This is reported by Zarnews.

According to the Samarkand Regional Roads Department, following the results of the tender, the Turkish company Proyapı Mühendislik ve Müşavirlik A.Ş. (PROYAPI) was recognised as the winner and a contract worth €1 million was signed. To date, the preliminary report and draft pre-investment study have been submitted by the consultant and accepted by the working group. The total length of the project is 305 kilometres.

The road will be built to meet the requirements of a 6-lane motorway "Motorway" of 305 kilometres, which meets international standards. It is also planned to build new bridges and overpasses over all interchanges and structures and install an intelligent transport system.

"As a result of the construction of the Tashkent-Samarkand toll road, the traffic flow will be distributed. The load capacity of the road surface is 13 tonnes according to international standards, and the service life of the motorway is set at 25 years," the report said.
