The Borders of Samarkand City Have Been Changed

Today, on January 14, during a regular session of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis, deputies discussed the issue of changing the borders of Samarkand City and the Samarkand and Oqdarya districts.
In accordance with the decision of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, efforts are underway in the region to establish a directorate for the construction of the modern business and residential complex "Shirin" for the years 2023–2030. Based on the proposal of the Cabinet of Ministers, 170 hectares from the Samarkand district and 243 hectares from the Oqdarya district are planned to be transferred to the city of Samarkand.
The session noted that the draft resolution was discussed at citizens' assemblies in relevant mahallas, as well as in the city and district councils of Samarkand and the region, and the cartographic plan and boundary descriptions were approved.
The draft resolution tasks the government with implementing comprehensive measures to systematically fulfill the objectives of changing the borders.
As a result of these changes, the modern "Shirin" business center will be created. On this territory, 254 multi-story residential buildings, 19 business centers, 50 social infrastructure facilities, 89 entertainment and shopping complexes, and a historical town are planned to be built.
Additionally, the construction plan includes 112 km of internal roads, pedestrian and bicycle paths, 6 km of an overhead metro line, 2 large bridges, 7.2 km of tunnels for utilities, 180 km of irrigation pipes, and 14 km of canals and other irrigation facilities.
According to deputies, these changes will help improve the living conditions of the population and expand the production and service sectors. The draft resolution was approved by the deputies.
