On January 27, 2025, President Donald Trump signed an executive order for the rapid development of a missile defense system known as the "Iron Dome" in the United States. This decision will be implemented as part of the US defense strategy in response to ballistic, hypersonic, and cruise missile attacks.

In a document signed during a flight from Florida to Maryland on January 27, President Trump acknowledged the threat posed by advanced missile systems and stressed the need to develop the new system. The order instructs US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin to present a missile defense shield architecture and placement plan within 60 days.

Earlier in January, during his inauguration speech, Trump announced that the "Iron Dome" system would now be fully manufactured in the US. He also tasked the development of this new generation defense system within the country for the US military.

The "Iron Dome" system, developed by Israel with US assistance, specializes in intercepting short-range missiles. Since its launch in 2011, the system has successfully intercepted thousands of missiles. The system’s success rate, exceeding 90%, has been proven by its interception of missiles fired by Hamas and Hezbollah at Israel.

President Trump’s executive order demonstrates his serious commitment to national security and emphasizes the necessity of adopting modern military technologies in a timely manner. Once the new system is developed, the US will have enhanced capabilities to defend against missiles and aerial attacks.
