President Calls for Acceleration of Energy Projects and Winter Prep
Uzbekistan
President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed the progress of joint oil and gas projects with international partners and preparations for the autumn-winter season. Key areas include cooperation with SOCAR, boosting production, and ensuring reliable energy supply.
On July 21, President Mirziyoyev was presented with updates on major oil and gas projects involving international partners, including a key agreement with SOCAR to explore and extract oil in the Ustyurt region. Efforts also focus on digitalization, complex field development, and specialist training.
The president instructed officials to accelerate project development, establish a full production cycle from exploration to output, and apply modern drilling technologies.
Winter readiness measures were also discussed, including gas storage, grid and substation repairs, and resource reserves. By year-end, Uzbekistan plans to launch new generation capacities: gas-turbine units in Talimarjan (1,065 MW), a new thermal plant in Syrdarya (1,573 MW), and several new hydropower plants (162 MW total) across four regions.
Mirziyoyev emphasized that reliable energy delivery remains a top priority for national development.
