Netflix warns its users in the United States and more than 100 other countries that their accounts cannot be transferred free of charge to anyone other than family members. Customers received emails about this warning.
The warning says that the Netflix account should only be used in one house. The user can add a participant outside his home only for an additional fee. In the United States, this fee is $8 per month.
The company estimates that more than 100 million users have shared their account with others. As of the end of March, the number of paying Netflix customers was 232.5 million worldwide.
According to the new policy, people living in the same family can continue to share their Netflix account with each other and use it on different devices while travelling.
