The President held a meeting on measures to improve energy efficiency
Uzbekistan
In the context of a growing economy and increased energy consumption, Uzbekistan is focusing on energy efficiency. By 2030, the demand for energy resources will increase by 1.5 times, and the country is already preparing for this. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev instructed to implement a comprehensive energy saving system capable of saving billions of kilowatt-hours of electricity and cubic meters of gas annually.
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting on improving the efficiency of consumption and the rational use of energy resources.
The main volume of energy consumption comes from industry. Many enterprises are outdated and use resources inefficiently. As a result, Uzbekistan is experiencing high energy losses, which are detrimental to both the economy and the environment.
To solve this problem, the government initiated a modernization program. In particular, in three regions - Samarkand, Syrdarya, and Jizzakh - reserves for saving 870 million kWh of electricity and 420 million cubic meters of gas were identified. By replacing 35 thousand units of old equipment, it is possible to save an additional 385 million kWh of electricity and 50 million cubic meters of gas.
Energy conservation is not only the modernization of production, but also the development of renewable energy sources. This year, the construction of 300 small solar power plants is planned, which will help save 45 million cubic meters of gas. More than a thousand micro-hydroelectric power plants on water canals will provide 175 million kWh of electricity.
The transition to energy-efficient street lighting is also being considered. Only replacing lamps with solar ones will reduce energy consumption by half.
The government is focusing not only on industry but also on fostering a culture of energy conservation among the population. Citizens are encouraged to use solar panels more actively, use resources wisely, and implement modern technologies in their daily lives.
