The President of Uzbekistan discussed further cooperation with the UN Secretary-General

On the sidelines of the SCO summit in Bishkek, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres.
At the beginning of the conversation, the UN Secretary-General sincerely congratulated the head of state and the people of Uzbekistan on the 35th anniversary of the country's independence, wishing them peace, well-being, and prosperity.
The parties discussed further expanding and strengthening cooperation with the UN and its institutions.
The head of state highly praised António Guterres' personal contribution to the development of multifaceted cooperation between Uzbekistan and the UN. Support was expressed for the Secretary-General's initiatives to reform the UN system.
The parties noted with satisfaction the intensive dialogue and exchange of visits, as well as Uzbekistan's expanding participation in the activities of UN elected bodies. In recent years, 15 UN General Assembly resolutions have been adopted at the initiative of our country.
António Guterres welcomed Uzbekistan's significant achievements in implementing the Sustainable Development Goals. They reaffirmed their commitment to further active cooperation in this area.
During the meeting, they exchanged views on current issues on the international and regional agendas. A schedule of upcoming joint events was also discussed.
