The President of Uzbekistan will attend the opening of the meeting of the Board of Governors of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank

The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev arrived in Samarkand on September 25 to participate in the events of the annual meeting of the Board of Governors of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB).
The head of our state will deliver a welcoming speech at the plenary session of the meeting, and will also hold a number of meetings on the sidelines of the forum.
It should be noted that the main theme of the ninth meeting of the Board of Governors will be "Building Sustainable Infrastructure for All". Current issues on the global economic agenda will be considered, strategic programs and plans for infrastructure development in Asia and other regions of the world will be discussed.
High-level delegations from more than 100 countries, heads and representatives of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank and other international institutions, top managers of leading foreign companies and authoritative experts will take part in the two-day summit in Samarkand. In total, about 2 thousand delegates are expected to participate.
Uzbekistan became a member of the AIIB in November 2016.
In recent years, our country has been one of the largest beneficiaries of the bank. The portfolio of implemented and ongoing projects exceeds $3 billion and covers such priority areas as green energy, modernization of road and transport and municipal infrastructure, education and healthcare, and support for the private sector.
